Lab-Grown Diamonds
What are Lab-Grown Diamonds?
Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds that are created in controlled laboratory environments, instead of being mined from the earth. They have the same chemical composition, physical structure, and visual properties as natural diamonds, making them visually and scientifically identical.
How are they made?
They are created using two main methods: High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT), which mimics the intense heat and pressure found deep within the earth, and Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD), where carbon atoms are layered onto a diamond seed to grow the stone over time.
Do they come in colour variants?
Yes, lab grown diamonds are available in both classic colourless grades and a range of fancy colours, including yellow, pink, blue, and green. Their colour can be influenced or controlled during the growth process.
What grading levels do they have?
Lab grown diamonds are graded using the same standards as natural diamonds, which follows the 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight. Reputable grading laboratories such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and International Gemological Institute (IGI) provide certification.
