Cleaning Your Diamonds & Gemstones

Caring for your jewellery

Remove your jewellery during high-impact activities

Removing your jewellery during activities such as exercising, going to the gym, heavy lifting, or manual work helps prevent bending, scratching, or loosening of stone settings.

Avoid wearing jewellery while sleeping

as unconscious movement can place unnecessary pressure on settings and fine details, which could lead to bending or loosening of your stone’s setting.

For regular at-home cleaning:

  • Use warm water, a small amount of mild dish soap, and a soft toothbrush.

  • Gently clean around the stone and setting, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a soft cloth.

  • Avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless advised, as some gemstones can be sensitive to vibration or heat.

Keep jewellery away from harsh chemicals

many household cleaners, chlorine, perfumes, and lotions, can dull metals and affect gemstones over time. It’s best to remove your jewellery whilst using any of these products.

Store pieces individually

In a soft pouch or lined jewellery box to prevent scratching and contact with other items.

Cleaning Your Diamonds & Gemstones

We recommend having your jewellery professionally checked and cleaned periodically, especially for frequently worn pieces such as engagement rings. If you although you can also clean your diamond jewellery pieces at home. Regular inspections ensure stones remain secure and your piece continues to look its best.

The simplest way to clean your diamond jewellery at home is to soak it in warm water with a small amount of mild dish soap. Allow the piece to rest in the solution for around 15 minutes, then gently brush around the diamond and setting using a soft baby toothbrush, paying particular attention to areas where residue can build up. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth, your jewellery will be refreshed and ready to wear once more!
